This book examines how the identification of John the Evangelist with the Apostle John, the son of Zebedee, from around the third century, gave rise to various conflated narratives. Dean Furlong argues that this culminated in Eusebiuss synthesis of the traditions, which provided the template for the traditional Johannine narrative.
