Examines Picasso's pre-cubist period, between 1900 and 1905, while closely contrasting works created by Juan Miro between 1915 and 1920 with those by Salvador Dali in the five-year period between 1920-1925, in order to highlight the differences and stylistic relationships marking the period prior to the two artists adherence to Surrealist poetics.
