In this book, Philip Allen examines the presence of Lope de Vegas adapted work on Spanish screens since the mid-twentieth century. In his analysis, Allen revisits and problematizes stereotypes present in popular and academic culture surrounding the authors life and works, which have at times been co-opted as propaganda.
