Mel Brown is a respected expert on Indigenous family affairs and best selling spiritual artist. She shares the story of discovering her heritage and how the journey to understand her culture gave her the strength to find her place in the world. When Mel learned about her Aboriginality as a young mum, she battled the challenges that came with exposing the secret of being Aboriginal, and she now uses that experience to help others understand the painful secrets of stolen generations and stolen identity.Shades of Me follows Mel's journey as she discovers her cultural roots, redefining who she was and how she saw her place in the world. Despite the trauma of domestic violence and moments of sheer despair when suicide seemed to be the only option, Mel somehow found the strength to carry on.In discovering spirituality, Mel finally found her place in life. And by combining her spirituality with her Aboriginality she began to understand she was part of something much bigger. Mel Brown is an Australian Aboriginal Ngunnawal woman - this is her story.
Mel Brown is a professional speaker, author and artist known for her expertise in cultural competency and lateral violence both nationally and internationally.
