By the early 1980s, he had formed the band Aslan, part of a new wave of acts coming out of Ireland. Author Bio

Christy Dignam was born in Dublin in 1960 and became the lead singer of the hugely popular Irish band Aslan in the 1980s, before battling with heroin addiction. Having recovered, he returned to the band and continued to have huge success, with six No 1 albums in Ireland.
