Reviews

This comprehensive bibliography will help scholars and others in their research needs for a long time. Therefore, it is recommended highly for all South Asian collections and all research libraries. It is an excellent addition to the library literature. * American Reference Books Annual *
Whenever I see a publication titled a comprehensive bibliography, as with this volume, I get excited. Another library ideal is the annotated bibliography, and once again the title of this book promises me much. It does not disappoint. The compiler, a retired lawyer-turned-librarian, notes an impressive list of sources used, ranging from library catalogues, published lists, trade catalogues, national and general bibliographies and indexes, periodical sources, and several online sources such as Dissertation Abstracts, Expanded Academic Index and ERIC. * Reference Reviews *
Having been a lawyer in his native India and a librarian in the US, Pandiri, now retired, completes his two-volume bibliography by citing books and pamphlets about the life, work, ideas, and heritage of Gandhi published in English. The 1995 first volume cited Gandhi's own works, but this second also cites bibliographies and compilations of Gandhi's work published since then. The descriptive and critical annotations typically range from 50 to 100 words; annotations are missing only from works that are explained sufficiently by title or that he did not see personally. The arrangement is alphabetical by author; subjects and titles are indexed. * Reference & Research Book News *
