The book tells the true story of how Sir Nicholas Winton, a London stockbroker at the time, helped spearhead a seemingly impossible plan that saved 669 children as the Nazis advanced on Czechoslovakia on the eve of World War Two. In 1938 he cancelled a ski holiday and instead spent 9 months masterminding the children's rescue and finding them homes in the UK. There are around 6000 people who are alive today because of him.
What motivated a young English stockbroker to take on such a monumental task His daughter, Barbara, sets out to answer this and other questions about the character, motivation and the 106-year life of an incredible humanitarian.
