This richly illustrated account of Cape York activist Jean George Awumpun, written from the personal perspective of family, is a rare illustration of the inseparable bonds of ancestory and country. Through the eyes of her grandaughter, this proud Alngith Elder's struggle in claiming her country is movingly revealed.
A graduate of James Cook University and NAISDA Dance College, Sydney, Fiona Doyle is a freelance performer and choreographer. In 2002 she toured Canada performing her poetry in the international Honouring Words Indigenous Tour. Fiona recently moved to Brisbane with her husband and three young daughters. Her traditional name is Oochunyung or Wattle Flower Dreaming, which is her mother's Dreaming.
