Description

Now the basis of a major ITV documentary series, DON'T DROP THE COFFIN! tells the story of Barry Albin-Dyer, who runs one of the UK's oldest family firms of funeral directors, in Bermondsey, South London. At times funny, at times bizarre, at times moving, this is a rare insight into the profession of death. We learn about cryonics, gangland funerals, removing bodies from suicide and murder scenes, eccentric morticians, spooky happenings, fights in cemeteries and countless other remarkable incidents. In the life of this undertaker truth really does seem stranger than fiction.

The television series of the same name, made Ginger Television, will be broadcast in six parts on Thursday evenings, beginning 27 March 2003. A film crew has been staying with Barry and his staff over several months, interviewing them and following their unique daily tasks.

This special edition of the book will have a new front cover based on the TV title sequence and contains a new Foreword by Barry in which he talks about the experience of making the series..
