The heartwarming story of musician, storyteller and craftsman Ronnie Summers. He hasn't had it easy, but in the lines of his face and the twinkle in his eye lies the spirit of a proud Tasmanian Aboriginal elder. Today, he is at the forefront of the Tasmanian cultural renaissance. He is a survivor in every sense of the word.
With a voice made in Heaven, Ronnie Summers is a wild island boy who overcame racism and the bottle to find power in his ancestry. Here is a story of a Tasmanian Aboriginal elder who is full of life and music and bonded to the land of his birth. Deeply committed to motivating a rising generation, Ronnie's story provides a rich perspective for Australians who are interested in Tasmania's past, present, and future Aboriginal cultural identity. --Bob Brown, Australian senator
Ronnie Summers is a descendant of the Trawl-wool-way and Palawa people of North East Tasmania and he grew up on Cape Barren Island. He has won a National Reconciliation Award, a Centenary of Federation Award, and has been nominated for Tasmanian Aboriginal of the Year.
