He spent his early years in Detroit, Michigan, and later moved to Buffalo, New York, where he eventually attended medical school. After residency at Mayo Clinic, he began his career in Santa Rosa, practicing ophthalmology for fifty years. He now resides there with his wife Judy and their cat Mosha. Lynette Archambeau Bachand has worked as an educator, youth minister, and stay-at-home mom, with proofreading jobs on the side. She and her husband Paul now reside in Santa Rosa, California, where she grew up.
