"The Flute Player" is a true story that centers on Gregory Charlton, a young man raised in a poor broken home. Gregory was a flute player in his small high school band. The ironic twist begins with a celebratory parade of an Olympic hero who won four gold medals in swimming raised in the flute player's hometown. The young man was also a swimmer and marched with his flute behind the convertible of the Olympic hero in this parade. Following the parade, Gregory, now 16 years old, decides to leave his hometown in Oregon and with the help of his family goes to Southern California attempting to succeed in his sport. Two years later, he defeated the Olympic champion and set his first World Record. Along the way, Gregory overcomes many issues and challenges. He went on to set more World Records and more achievements.

Author Bio

Gregory Charlton was raised in a small town in Oregon near Portland. He held four world records and was a three-time NCAA champion and All-American, United States national champion with nine American records, a gold medal at the Pan-American Games and World Games, and the Pre-Olympic Games for the United States Team.

He is a dedicated wilderness enthusiast, jazz and classical flutist, poet, author, and practicing dentist.
