Mrs. Daniels and Paula spend their afternoons after school having tea and learning about all the different places Mrs. Daniels has visited. Their friendship grows over cups of tea and bouquets of roses, and becomes an instrumental part of Paula's education, life, and family.
Paula Cottrell grew up in Texan small towns and has lived in many states around the U.S. She's met hundreds of people in her lifetime, but her friendship with Mrs. Daniels and the knowledge she passed on to her will always hold a special place in her heart. She is so thankful for the chance to share their story with beautifully illustrated pictures from Nanci Whatley. The first time that I read Paula's story, the whole book came to life before my eyes. My old dining room table and rose patterned china became the setting for tea parties. Our house surrounded with roses became the background. My granddaughter Abigayle portrayed the older girl. Then Jimma portraying the young girl came to my house unknowingly wearing a dress with pink roses and a beautiful pearl necklace. They truly brought the book to life!
