Judith Uyterlinde thought she had it all: intelligent, attractive, healthy, in a happy long-term relationship with a wonderful man, and with her career on the rise. All that was missing was a child, and how hard could that be As it turned out, Judith would experience the agony of miscarrying twins, suffer two ectopic pregnancies, and endure four failed IVF attempts before finally having to accept that she would not be giving birth to a child of her own. Written with a searing intensity, Heart's Desire is Judith's account of her years of struggling to conceive. Along the way, she never loses her sense of humour, nor flinches from her honest portrayal of the heartbreak she and her partner Paul endure. She also writes candidly of how her relationship threatens to crumble as the pressures of 'having a baby' take their toll. Importantly, however, Heart's Desire is a story of acceptance, hope and looking to the future. For, in the end, Judith and Paul's relationship not only survives, but becomes stronger, deeper...and they both finally realise that as one door closes another opens.
Judith Uyterlinde has achieved international acclaim for this her first book, with the story of her quest to have a child touching hearts and opening minds. Translated into more than fifteen languages, it has been published around the world, from France to South Africa, and now in Australia and New Zealand. Born in the Netherlands, Judith read Spanish and Translation at university before working as a translator at the European Union and then embarking on a successful career in publishing.
