"Rascal's Republic" is a catalogue of the author's early twenties through poetry, unstructured prose, and photographs. While there is a table of contents, the book is not designed to be read in any particular order. Many passages have been informed by art, films, or writings. The book also features literature inspired by Fela Kuti, Betsey Johnson, Claes Oldenburg, William Burroughs, and Theodore Adorno.
Brittany Chadi was born in Long Island, New York to a Persian American family. Her first published work is a coming of age piece that follows her thoughts as an impressionable, yet wild 22 year old. In the wake of her formative years, she lived two separate lives. One life was inside her middle eastern home and community - a life of love and boundaries. Her other life was inside the fashion world - a world of heartbreak.
