For over a century, Black Greek fraternities have been at the forefront of leadership, achievement, and ground-breaking results. While the fraternities have graduate or alumni chapters through which some members are initiated through, the majority of the most-achieved members entered their respective fraternities through a chapter on a college campus. Many of those college campuses were Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).Tussle at the Top: The Over One Hundred Year Competition Between the Omegas and the Alphas examines two of the prominent fraternities of that group - Omega Psi Phi and Alpha Phi Alpha. Not only does the book review historical events relative to Black Greeks - the Omegas and Alphas particularly - it also sets both their competition and collaborations within the context of the Civil Rights Movement.
