This book is designed to offer systematic help with Latin-English translation, rather than simply being a collection of passages. Each section takes up a particular translation or syntactical point and provides three interesting passages for practice, the first usually a simple piece of prose, the second and third practice prose and verse. The whole builds into a coherent course suitable for pupils at about GCSE or Common Entrance standard. It will also be of great value to teachers of Latin in improving their students approach to translation.
B. W. M. Young is also author of Intelligent Reading (1968).
