Description

Angelena Davies had seven years of study under her belt, two young children at home, and a fisherman husband away for weeks at a time. Life was manic like a triple shot latte, but she relished in the busyness of Motherhood. Those tiny little fingers were her everything. Yet something was kindling deep within her belly. She didn't know it at the time (hell, how could she, she was too busy wiping the kitchen bench - AGAIN) but she was being called to find her purpose, beyond motherhood and wifery.

Late one night as Angie was procrastinating over folding the washing, she found herself surfing the net and accidentally discovered a $12,000 scholarship for a Masters thesis... the kindling was ignited. Unlike most good fires though, this one exploded and wrecked her health, her confidence, her self-awareness and her mascara - the organic one that costs twice as much.

Despite it being the 21st Century already, and women meant to be liberated and free... Angie discovers that her own ideas about what it means to be a good mother threaten to undermine her ability to complete the Masters.

Something has to give. Will it be mothering Or studying

Find out in this funny, insightful, poignant, and heart-wrenching memoir as Angie takes you into the heart of her experience as a studying mother, revealing that taming the dragon of self-doubt and developing the gift of intuition makes mothering more fulfilling, less guilty, much calmer and easier - and with so much more flow.

Reviews

"This memoir is a raw insight into mother's lives & headspaces, complete with tools & insights to help you calm the mind, support self-belief and make choices to suit you rather than base your life on perceptions of others. I loved the honesty & the relatability of this book!"
Serina Gardner - Naturopath & Medical Herbalist.

"I think any mother who dreams of life beyond "home duties" can relate to the themes in this book: the constant round-about of self-talk that can drive us crazy, the tiny detail that can bring down a grand plan
and the furious voice of ambition that won't be silenced - all against a backdrop of maternal love and responsibility. This is a very readable and relatable story but don't underestimate the power of the narrative. This is a gritty and, at times, difficult read as Ange brings us along on her no-holds-barred account of her experience as a Mum who studies. This book is a great read (and resource) for any Mum but especially relevant to those who are studying."
Bailey Bosch - Psychologist, Researcher & Mother of 5.

"The heart and flow of motherhood is more than a story, it's a resource that supports women to create space for herself and her dreams. It is a must read for any mother who wants to create a personal and professional life of joy, presence and flow."
Tiffany Matthews - Women's Health Coach.

"This is a book that every mother needs to read. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you feel as though you're not alone in this motherhood journey. It's relatable on so many levels and mothers worldwide will feel a lift within themselves after reading this book. Angie writes in a way that is comical but serious. She touches on some big topics within motherhood and at times it's gut-wrenching. You feel for Angie and the journey she went through. She's one brave woman and in sharing her story she's helping mothers know and understand that this motherhood journey is freaking hard at times, but so rewarding too. In her beautiful reflections, she guides the reader to understand how to get back into the flow. The flow of motherhood. A brilliant read."

Annaliese Arnold - Founder of Mindful Mummas.

"Angelena has a gift for getting into the heart of motherhood. She understands the complex inner world and through personal stories, exercises and in-your-face realness she pushes each of us to let go of guilt, to embrace who we are and to live a life of purpose all within the context of mothering.'The Heart and Flow of Motherhood' is motivating, raw and life-changing."

Rachel Marie Martin - Author of The Brave Art of Motherhood.
