Description

Steve shares in full his remarkable story for the first time. After being sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, what Steve witnessed at HMP Frankland, a Category A prison, made him change his life forever. From cell fires and inmates pouring boiling oil over each other, to violent feuds and gang battles on prison wings. After losing everything, he vowed to never use violence again.

In November 2019, Steve's redemptive journey led him to a Learning Together event at Fishmongers' Hall, hosted by his mentor, Jack Merritt, and attended by Saskia Jones. It was here, on his first day out of prison on day release, that Steven was forced to break his vow as he bravely confronted and fought armed-terrorist Usman Khan on London Bridge. Armed just with a narwhal tusk, Steve wrestled and held Khan to the ground while he waited for the police to arrive.

Pacy, compelling and utterly inspiring, this is Steve Gallant's powerful story of redemption.

Author Bio

Steven Gallant was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Barrie Jackson in 2005 and transferred to HMP Frankland in 2006. Whilst in prison Steven vowed to never commit violence again, teaching himself how to write, educating himself and completing a business degree at Oxford Brookes University. At an open prison event at Fishmongers' Hall, he witnessed the murders of Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones, and fought Usman Khan, subduing him on London Bridge. He was granted a Royal Prerogative of Mercy by the Queen and released from prison in August 2021.
