Description

Wrapped in a red blanket on a park bench in Santa Rosa, the young woman could almost be asleep if it weren't for the livid bruises around her neck. The Violent Crime Investigations (VCI) unit starts an inquiry, but their leader, Eddie Mahler, is wary.

Smart, stoic, and possessing a stellar track record for closing cases, Mahler is a good detective. But belying his success are his debilitating chronic migraines and the knowledge that the only time he worked on a serial killer case, the culprit escaped, unpunished. When similarities between the old case and this newest murder come to light, Mahler knows that this is his last chance to redeem himself and put a killer away for good.

'In this propulsive debut, Weisel writes evocatively about a detective in crisis, a complex crime, and a city pushed to the edge by a killer's grip. With TheSilenced Women, you're in for a smart and gritty ride.' Zo Ferraris, author of Finding Nouf

'The debut of a promising new series, The Silenced Womanis a timely and compelling police procedural.' Jeff Abbott, New York Times bestselling author of Never Ask Me

'Weisel delivers sensitive and well-developed portrayals of the beleaguered detectives, without skimping on the action.' Booklist

'Weisel's debut thriller is a crackling how-catch-'em, stacking equally intelligent and tenacious adversaries on both sides of the law, then setting them loose on each other.' Joseph Schneider, author of the critically acclaimed LAPD Detective Tully Jarsdel Mysteries
