GERHARD BACH is Professor of American Studies at the Paedagogische Hochschule Heidelberg in Germany. He is also an Honorary Adjunct Professor at Brigham Young University in Utah. Bach has edited several books, and his articles have appeared in such journals as Studies in American Jewish Literature, Saul Bellow Journal, and American Literary Realism.
