Unhallowed Arts is part of a series of events and publications organised by SymbioticA to commemorate the bicentenary of Mary Wollstonecraft (Godwin) Shelley's Frankenstein, or The Modern prometheus.The book contributes to the legacy of Frankenstein and considers developments in the sciences of the twenty-first century through an eclectic array of visual, performative and written responses.
Oron Catts is Curator of HyperPrometheus and the co-founder and Director of SymbioticA, the Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts. He is an artist, researcher, and curator. He is credited as being the first to grow and eat in-vitro meat and leather. Laetitia Wilson, PhD, is Curator of HyperPrometheus and is a Perth-based independent curator, arts writer, and academic. Since 2004, Wilson has researched and taught at the University of Western Australia.
