Glyn Jones is widely regarded as one of the finest prose writers in English that Wales has produced, with particular praise being given to his short stories. In the words of his contemporary Gwyn Jones "He is the author of some of the loveliest prose of our generation". However, currently only a very small number of Glyn Jones's short stories are in print. This volume will make available again all of Glyn Jones's short stories including the nine stories from The Blue Bed. The twelve stories in The Water Music, the nine stories in Welsh Heirs along with the three stories collected for the first time in Selected Poems. The author also provides a critical analysis addressing such matters as the literary context in which the stories, particularly the early stories, were produced and their critical reception.
"This now becomes the standard text of Glyn Jones's short fiction and future selections will need to take it as definitive." Planet
