Description

And now for something completely different - Simon Callow, theatrical treasure extraordinaire, reprises a success from early in his career. The writer, Juvenal born circa 55AD, wrote sixteen satires that attacked the decadence of Rome in its heyday. Here adapted by Richard Quick we are given a view into the moral decline that is as relevant now as it was back then.

Reviews

'A comic delight ... Callow comes on like a foul-tempered and thoroughly vicious Woody Allen' (Times) 'The observation and lyricism delight and resonate' (Time Out)

Author Bio

Richard Quick trained for the theatre at Drama Centre, London. His writing includes verse and parody for BBC Radio 4s satirical Week Ending and a twenty year run as lyricist on Radio 2s award-winning series The News Huddlines, working with many leading actors and comedians of the last decades. His BBC Radio 4 adaptations include The Larger Lunacy of Stephen Leacock, Educated Evans (Edgar Wallace) and his own book Simons Bug. Research in the 1970s brought him to Peter Greens translation of Juvenals Satires and whats now become a lifetimes passion for both writers.
