Philip Osment was an actor, director, and writer. He acted with several alternative theatre companies, including The Half Moon, Shared Experience and Gay Sweatshop (who performed his first scripts), before going on to become a prolific playwright. His breakthrough play was This Islands Mine, and several of his other works were nominated for Writers Guild Awards, with Whole winning Best Play for Young People in 2013.
