The 40 Minute Tempest recreates the world of Shakespeare's great play as told by Prospero and Ariel as they journey towards Prospero's retirement and Ariel's freedom. Using puppetry, the modern idiom and Shakespeare's verse it magically brings to life the world of Prospero's island. King Ram, based on King Lear, is the story of an old king with a foolish plan to split his lands between his two daughters, and of a ten year old boy's desperate search for a baby's father. Songs and verse create a roller-coaster dramatic ride for children.
Lesley Ross studied Psychology at Nottingham University before training as an actor at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. He has worked extensively in both adult and children's theatre as actor, writer and director. In 1992 he set up Ripley Theatre and produced many shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, including Fringe First Nominees 'Diary of Welshcake' and 'Eggplant'. He has also written the lyrics for a number of children's musicals. William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English dramatist, poet, and actor, generally regarded as the greatest playwright of all time.
