George Peele (1556-1596) was an English dramatist. He experimented in a variety of forms, including the pageant, history, pastoral, comedy and melodrama, but is most famous for his work The Old Wives Tale, that blends folklore and romance. His other works include The Arraignment of Paris, Edward I, The Battle of Alcazar, and The Love of King David and Fair Bethsabe.
