Description

Would you ever want to sit with me in the dark Just sit with the lights out, barely even touching, maybe not touching at all, and just listen to me breathe Everybody wants a piece of Stephanie Schwartz. Her sons demanding nuggets, her boyfriend wants her to wax and her best friends taking her to a stripping class. Now theres a rapist on Sutton Drive, an obscene caller invading her home and a portal to hell beneath her sofa. How far must she go to make it all stop And how far is too far A heart-breaking, taboo-busting black comedy by Joshua Conkel, the most important queer playwright of his generation (Doric Wilson, the Co-Founder of Off-Off-Broadway's very first theatre, Caf Cino.)

Reviews

Punchy dialogue - a hoot and a half - Conkel's deliciously dark and comic play is every bit the crude, hilarious and shocking play to rustle up an evening's worth of pure entertainment bliss - It's a playful production, that pushes all the right buttons, and I challenge you not to leave with aching cheeks from laughing so hard. * A Younger Theatre *
Imagine if Desperate Housewives had been directed by Quentin Tarantino. Or if Thelma and Louise had been written by Martin McDonagh. Throw in a healthy pinch of David Lynch, and a nod towards Muriel's Wedding and you might come close to getting a taste of the deliciously disturbing world conjured up by American playwright Joshua Conkel in this, his UK debut. * Curtainup.com *
Joshua Conkel's black comedy is like a working-class version of Desperate Housewives meets Thelma and Louise. * The Guardian *
Entertaining, engaging, and at times downright hysterical... Darkly comic and sublimely surreal at its best, this new play is well worth an evening of your time. * Public Reviews *
