Description

Even now, Donly suggests, there may be a way of living in radical tenderness that will spell a way forward rather than the end of it all. -Kate Dakota Kremer, CultureBot

Two horses in a neigh-scent relationship, a vacant treehouse in need of a tenant, and a human with a grape for a head. In Corinne Donly's buoyant adaptation of Hieronymus Bosch's fifteenth-century triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights, syllables combine to make words and people to make lovers. An elegy to vestiges, a paean to puns, and a theater of peace,Wood Calls Out to Woodpursues Bosch's old paradise through a new alchemy of love, language, and radical tenderness.

Reviews

In Donlys theater of gentleness and Boschs garden of delight, we are granted a vision of the world in which disagreement is not the harbinger of the end of love but the engine of loves continuanceLanguage itself is unfallen in Donlys flying, freewheeling celebration of the sounds of words, their meanings, their multiplicities, and the way in combination they alchemize into something new altogether.
Kate Dakota Kremer, CultureBot

A rose of a showIt is so wonderful how this piece can live so peacefully yet have such charged dimensions. The horizon of the ideas here chase the landscapeIt is a script of wonder, so wonder with it.
Aron Canter, StageBuddy
