Ideograms and archetypal forms offer a shared purge illuminating the darkest corners of the human psyche while revealing compassion and humour in the most unlikely of places. THIS IS NOT CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT is a brutally intense and darkly comic piece that unveils the bizarre, compulsive and eccentric nature of humanity. Thunderous and fiercely grotesque, this piece utilises Adam Scott-Rowleys practice of The Sensitised Theatre to create a sharp political comment on contemporary society. This edition was published to coincide with YOU ARE GOING TO DIE playing at Southwark Playhouse, London, in April 2024 produced by The Production Exchange.

Author Bio

Adam Scott-Rowley trained at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He is an actor, creator, performance practitioner, and director. He is the creator and performer behind the multi-award winning and internationally touring show THIS IS NOT CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT. Awards for Adams performance in THIS IS NOT CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT include: 2017 Offie Nomination for 'Best Male Performance', WINNER 'Stand-Out Performance at the Fringe 2017', WINNER 'Best Solo Performance at the Fringe 2017', and WINNER 'Show of the Week at VAULT Festival 2018'. His next show YOU ARE GOING TO DIE premiered at VAULT Festival in March 2023. It then completed a month-long run at Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, before departing on an international tour beginning in Denmark. The show returned to London in 2024 at the Southwark Playhouse from 18 April to 4 May. Awards for Adams performance in YOU ARE GOING TO DIE include: 2023 Offie Nomination for 'IDEA Production: Devised or Physical Theatre' and 2023 VAULT Festival Nomination for the 'ORIGINS AWARD'.
