49 Days is a collection of poems that will take you on an epic journey through colorful fantasy worlds and raw, modern landscapes. Darting from bittersweet childhood recounts to scintillating gay love stories, these poems invite you to step into the mind and heart of the author's memories, fantasies and dreams. Love, lust, alcohol and ancient spice await. And of course, dragons.
This project was created as a result of isolation during the pandemic lock-down of 2020. Seven weeks. Seven themes. A poem a day for 49 days.
Damon was born in Santa Monica, and grew up moving across various parts of Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.
Trained as a classical ballet dancer, he performed as a soloist with such companies as Oakland Ballet and San Francisco Opera. Between rehearsals, and backstage at performances he would find moments to sketch, write poems and short stories.
After retiring from ballet, Damon turned his love of textiles and style into a fashion accessories business called Damon Grey. Fascinated with mythology and the world history of fabric design, he began to create pieces that were visual stories inspired by the ancient Silk Road and spice trade-routes.
Damon has always been passionate about poetry and writing. 49 DAYS is his first published collection. He currently resides in Marin County with his husband Gavin, his sphynx cat Enki, and his parrot Cano.
