From horses and foals to mothers and daughters, everyone seems to fit in. Except for some, who feel as though they stick out like a sore thumb. Tennessean author Ava Graves takes the reader through a journey of insecurity, heartbreak, and self-realization in her debut poetry collection, "A Good Southern Girl."
Ava Graves is a southern raised poet from the heart of Tennessee. Born in January of 2005, she began her love of writing from a young age. In elementary school, she would offer to write other student's essays for them, as she loved the entire process of writing itself. She began writing poetry even earlier, writing about her hometown and her love of her childhood pets. During her senior year of high school, she decided to write every poem she could remember writing from her childhood to compose into one book. Thus, earning a title reminiscent of her life so far, "A Good Southern Girl."
