Description

A mother, wife, teacher, photographer, grandmother, reporter and poet are some of the background vocations that give some of the poems in Behind Blue Eyes special meaning. From the crying babies to the continual whir of the washing machine, from the divorced woman to the happily married woman, from the piles of homework to grade to the hundreds of photographs to develop, to the absolute joy of being a grandmother to the rough and tumble world of being an outspoken reporter, from a world gone crazy to the solace of poetry, Deborah Herodes has shared her passion, compassion and her dispassion for those who have colored her world. All styles of poetry are housed in a book that will become your table side companion. Herodes is also the author of Between the Lines and Pilgrim Soul.

Author Bio

Dr. Deborah McManama-Herodes lives with her husband, Robert, in a small hamlet in upstate NY, where she has close access to her family and constant inspiration from her surroundings. This is her third book of poetry; Between the Lines and Pilgrim Soul preceded Behind Blue Eyes. Her poetry speaks to those who have survived despair by holding on to hope. A compilation of styles are represented in this book, so it appeals to everyone who loves writing and reading poetry. Dr. Herodes is the proud mother of three daughters and eight grandchildren. Before retiring, she was an English teacher at both the high school and college level. She now writes for her hometown newspaper.
