I was a secretary in the 1960's, '70's and '80's, working at such places as The Tonight Show, 20th Century Fox and MGM. In those days, there was no #MeToo. There was just me and Him -- The Boss. I soon realized that because of the politics of the era, I was stuck in that position, with little hope of a promotion. I was thus inspired to write a collection of poems expressing my frustration.
These poems, with illustrations by Judy Novgrod, were about that life, including typewriters, White Out and carbon paper. As the saying goes, "we've come a long way baby." But perhaps some people need to be reminded of where we came from.
LIZA HENNESSEY BOTKIN was born and raised in New York City. For over 40 years she has been a street photographer and writer, documenting the ordinary activities in our daily lives; subjects that she finds strangely or humorously interacting. Her work has appeared in numerous publications and galleries worldwide.
