Well known in the Baltimore/DC area, Hilton reviewed for the Baltimore Sun before his death in 2005. His accessible and moving final collection includes poems about each period of Hiltons life, but written during his last few years. Wise and elegiac, this collection will appeal to anyone who is facing the death or serious illness of a loved one and to anyone who simply enjoys the stories of a raucous, well-traveled man whose obvious love for life and for his family shines through each poem.
David Hilton (1938-2005) grew up in California, spending most of his adult life in Baltimore, where he taught creative writing at Anne Arundel Community College. The author of eleven books of poetry, his work appeared in Poetry 180, an anthology edited by former poet laureate Billy Collins, and in numerous publications including The Yale Review and Poetry magazine.
