"November Keepsakes" by Lola Willis is a poignant collection of poetry and short fiction, shaped by the natural beauty of Louisiana, from the pines of Leesville to the cypresses of Lafayette. Ten years in the making, the collection was published after the death of Willis's firstborn child, whose memory became the catalyst for sharing her work with the world. Through four powerful chapters-Love, Pain, Woman and Faith-Willis explores the complex spectrum of human emotion. Her writing captures the ebb and flow of life, tracing moments of despair and fulfillment, as she delves deeply into the enduring power of love in all its forms. This debut collection serves as both a tribute to her lost child and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
Lola Willis lives and writes in Leesville, Louisiana with her husband and six children. She lost her firstborn daughter to suicide in May 2024, which fuels her poetry and activism for suicide prevention. Lola's poetry, short stories and parenting articles have appeared in both online and print publications. "November Keepsakes" is her first collection.
