There are almost as many definitions and different sorts of love as there are poets. Edited on the assumption that any poem which speaks of one human's desire for another is a qualifying factor, this anthology ranges through time and fashion. This revised and enlarged second edition includes 52 new poems, a high proportion written since the mid 1970s by the likes of Simon Armitage, Wendy Cope, Carol Ann Duffy, James Fenton, Sophie Hannah and Seamus Heaney.
Jon Stallworthy was educated at Rugby, in the West African Frontier Force, and at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he won the Newdigate Prize for Poetry. He is now Professor of English Literature at Oxford.
