At the heart of Judith Beveridge's new collection is a series of dramatic monologues and character studies centred on a young fisherman, and exploring landscape, character, narrative, imagination and the places they intersect. It is a meditation on the interactions and relationships within a small society of men, and the dignity, beauty and brutality of their work. Storm and Honey also continues Beveridge's fascination with language, people and animals, physics and cosmology, the self, affection and interconnectedness.
Judith Beveridge is one of Australia's most highly regarded poets, the author of three award-winning books of poetry. She is the poetry editor of Meanjin. Her most recent collection, Wolf Notes (Giramondo, 2003), won both the Victorian Premier's Award for Poetry and the Queensland Premier's Judith Wright Calanthe Prize.
