John Barton has written and published six award-winning collections of poetry, including West of Darkness: A portrait of Emily Carr (winner of the 1988 Archibald Lampman Award), Notes Toward a Family Tree (cowinner of the 1995 Ottawa-Carleton Book Award), and Designs from the Interior (winner of the 1995 Archibald Lampman Award). He coedits Arc: Canada's National Poetry Magazine and coordinates publishing at the National Museum of Science and Technology and the National Aviation Museum.
