First published in the 1920's, The Prophet an inspirational, allegorical guide to living, the book is perhaps the most famous work of religious fiction of the Twentieth Century and has sold millions of copies in more than twenty languages. Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) was among the most important Arabic language writers of the twentieth century. Poet, philosopher and artist his works have been translated into numerous languages and his drawings and paintings have been exhibited all over the world. The Prophet is his most famous work.
