Carliss Maddox is a Maryland-based author, educator and poet. She is the author of two children's books, Firstgarten and #thebuildup: 12 Daily Affirmations for Young Boys of Color. Her stories are inspired by personal experiences and the raw realities of life. Carliss holds an M.A. degree in Education. She is a member of the SCBWI. She is an avid reader, visual writer, lover of the arts, and anything remotely creative.
