This collection of poems captures the intoxicating complexity of the grand romance, exploring both its sustenance and how its energy is sustained. The poems chart the kaleidoscopic patterns of infatuation and its fractal electricity, composing, in the process, notes toward a biological chaos theory. Romance, here, presents the brainand the rest of the bodywith the most extravagant baubles. These poems show a mind at work when it's flooded this way, with its reversals and sidesteps, its obsessive reiterations and re-examinations, its seeming betrayals and hidden reserves, completely exposed.
Mark Sinnett is the author of Bull, a collection of stories. His first volume of poems, The Landing, won the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award in 1998. He was born in England in 1963 and moved to Canada in 1980.
