Strange Fire is a collection of poems reflecting upon family and faith. Taylor derives much of her material from growing up with her eight siblings in a small farming community in Georgia, adding that family extended to her father's seventeen brothers and sisters who gathered often to celebrate their upbringing and past. In addition, Strange Fire celebrates a faith that formulates questions and calls for a response, even in the darkest days of a pandemic.
Jo Taylor is a retired, 35-year English teacher from Georgia. Her favorite genre to teach high school students was poetry, and today she dedicates more time to writing it, her major themes focused on family, place, and faith. She says she writes to give testimony to the past and to her heritage. She has been published in several journals, both on-line and in print.
