Author Bio

Dr. Laura Gehl holds a B.A. in psychology from Yale University and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Georgetown. She has nearly twenty years of experience teaching and writing about science for elementary, middle, and high school students. Her career has included directing the first-ever science fair at Casablanca American School in Morocco; editing the award-winning educational periodical Science Weekly (grades K-6); covering antique telescopes and other scientific instruments for Antiques Roadshow Insider, companion publication to the PBS television series; and writing about science for clients such as the American Diabetes Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Gehl's debut picture book, ONE BIG PAIR OF UNDERWEAR, was the inaugural winner of the CBC/MSRI Mathical Prize, a Charlotte Zolotow Highly Commended Title, and a Booklist Best Books for Youth Editors' Pick. The first book in her PEEP AND EGG series earned a Parents' Choice recommendation in 2016, was a Children's Choice Book Award finalist for 2017, and was selected for the ALSC and ILA summer reading lists. Dr. Gehl frequently speaks at schools, bringing science into many of her presentations. She lives in Maryland. Daniel Wiseman is a husband, dad, illustrator, and creative director. He is the illustrator of the Susanna Leonard Hill's board book series, When Your, and is exuberant about the recent release of When Your Lion Needs a Bath. When he isn't drawing, he can usually be found doing one of these great things: perfecting his biscuit recipe, hiking up a mountain in some faraway location, singing loudly in his car, riding his bike on the mean streets of STL, or napping. Daniel currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri.
