Her books have received numerous distinctions, including the Florida Book Award, International Latino Book Award, Amricas Award Commendable Title, and the ILA 2022 Children's and Young Adults' Book Award in Primary Fiction. The daughter of Colombian immigrants, Alexandra is also an educator and a poet. She lives in Florida with her husband and son. Manu Montoya was born in Medelln, Colombia where she studied graphic design and advertising. Today she lives in Barcelona, Spain where she also studied art direction.
