Beloved Austrian author/illustrator Erwin Mosers Boris storiestold with humour and heartall in one volume for the first time in English
Boris is a special cat! Be it spring, summer, fall, or winter, Boris and his friends experience big and little adventures every day, often without even looking for them!
From driving a bathtub to pretending to be a scarecrow to helping a friend, these charming comic-book style mini-storiestold in six picturesare perfect for read aloud and beginning reader fun.
"Children and adults will both appreciate these morsels of masterful ministorytelling."-- "Kirkus Reviews"
"Each story is charming, optimistic and shows Boris's unending pluck. These "comic-book-style mini-stories" are charming and funny. Moser's art, which appears to be pen and watercolor, are incredibly sweet, and are all set in the country with lots of other animal friends."-- "Youth Services Book Reviews"
"Each story presents a challenge, the solution for which involves creativity, lateral thinking, and kindness. Because Holly the hedgehog can't go skating due to a sprained ankle, for example, her friends attach skates to her armchair and push her around the lake. Some of the adventures include such tried-and-true folktale dilemmas as magic power gone awry and a series of ill-advised trades. Part joke, part puzzle, part poem, part koan, these tiny stories are reminiscent, in their quiet humor, of another European import, Coudray's Benjamin (or Bigby) Bear books..." (STARRED)-- "The Horn Book"
Erwin Moser (1954-2017) was born in Vienna, Austria and grew up in a village on Lake Neusiedl. He trained as a typesetter, and in 1980 began to create and illustrate his enchanting tales. For more than thirty years he published numerous childrens picture books, for which he received many awards and was shortlisted for the German Youth Literature Prize. His books, imaginatively written and illustrated, are remarkable for their warmheartedness and have earned their place in the canon of German-language literature for children and young adults. In 2014 the Erwin Moser Museum was opened in his home village of Gols.
