A delightful rhyming counting book. New board book edition! Two little chooky chicks pulling at a worm. Clucky cluck, worm's stuck. What should chookies do
I love the slightly acid tones and the textural effects of Sinad Hanleys amusing illustrations. Just the thing to share with the youngest listeners. -- Red Reading Hub * Red Reading Hub *
The cute rhyming text of this cumulative counting book from Australia is paired with exuberant illustrations. * School Library Journal *
Jan Whiten was born in Bendigo, Victoria. Her early school years were spent at a tiny rural school with one room and one teacher for all grades. Jan is married with two sons. As a family they spent many happy hours sharing the magic of books together. Her love of reading children's books led Jan into the exciting world of writing her own stories for children. Chooky-Doodle-Doo is Jan's first commercially published book, and was short-listed for the 2014 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards. It was inspired by the antics of Miss Milligan, one of her much-loved hens. Always aspiring, envisaging and dreaming, Sinead Hanley's visual language plays with pencil, paper cuts, textures, surfaces and screen printing. Her style is informed and thoroughly inspired by a range of influences including folklore, nature, op art, and an undying passion for collecting kitsch books and dusty encyclopaedias. Chooky-Doodle-Doo is her first book and was short-listed for the 2014 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards.
