As Robbie, Jim, Sam and Charlie set off to try their luck in the Victorian goldfields, they imagine filling their pockets with gleaming nuggets. After months of hard work and disappointment, the four friends are about to give up, when Sam finds something extraordinary buried in the shaft . . .

'A lively rhythmic text, absolutely stunning illustrations paired with historical information about the Victorian gold-rush all of which will stimulate readers' interest and imagination.' Just So Stories

'This is a fun, lively introduction for young readers to the gold rush and its impact...The watercolour illustrations were inspired by the goldfield artists of the mid-nineteenth century and paint a vivid picture of the landscape and the living conditions of the miners.' ReadPlus
