Heres another title in the popular My Dad series. It is replete with dad jokes, puns, riddles, and knock-knock jokes. In particular, the author has a lot of fun with homophones: sail/sale, sea/see, shore/sure. The younger audience will not understand this humour, but older siblings probably will. The book begs to be read aloud, preferably with a pirate voice! There is, of course, the ubiquitous fart joke. * Reading Time *

Author Bio

Katrina Germein is a best-selling picture book author. Published worldwide, Katrinas Big Rain Coming (illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft) has remained continuously in print since it was first published in 1999. Her popular title, My Dad Thinks Hes Funny ( also illustrated by Tom Jellett), was Highly Commended in the Prime Ministers Literary Awards. Thunderstorm Dancing (illustrated by Judy Watson) is among many of Katrinas books to have received a Notable Book Commendation from The Childrens Book Council of Australia, and to be featured on childrens television programs such as Play School. In 2019 Katrina won the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Award for Let's Go Strolling (illustrated by Danny Snell). Katrina writes about family, Australian life and the natural environment.

Tom Jellett is a Sydney based illustrator. For over twenty years he has illustrated a number of books for children including My Dad Thinks Hes Funny by Katrina Germein, Why I Love Footy by Michael Wagner, Whale in the Bath by Kylie Westaway and the upcoming Besties series with Sporty Kids author Felice Arena. His work can also be seen in a number of magazines and newspapers, including editorial illustrations for The Australian and The Weekend Australian. Tom was also recently included in the Editorial and Book category for Illustrators 61, and exhibited at the Society of Illustrators, New York in 2019.
