Cora is a precocious five-year-old who receives a pink baseball glove (the "mitt") for her birthday. She gathers a group of her friends to start a team, but it's the first time they've played the game together and they aren't quite sure what to do. Their initial efforts are not very successful, and it could be that they don't know how to play together as a team, helping each other out and backing each other up. Cora loves her pink mitt, but refuses to share it with her teammates, who aren't having much luck with their own. Once her father convinces her to give it a try, the team's fortunes turn around. Everyone on the team who takes a turn with the pink mitt plays like an all-star. Cora saves the best for last, both in the field and at bat. They are a winning team at last!
